Sustainable Sunsetting for Digital Research Projects
2024 – 2025
An HUIT Emerging Technology and Innovation Program (ETIP) initiative addressing the lifecycle management of digital research projects across Harvard. We developed an appraisal framework to evaluate sunsetting options, investigated web-recording platforms for preserving digital scholarship, and prototyped ephemeral environments to lower the operational cost of keeping complex applications available long-term.
Collaborators: Arthur Barrett (Senior Technical Architect, FAS) and Tricia Patterson (Digital Preservation Services, Harvard Library).
